About the Event
The Gaza Monologues
& Teach-In on the History of Gaza
Written by youth from Gaza in 2010 and 2014, The Gaza Monologues were orginally created by ASHTAR Theatre (based in Ramallah, Palestine). In response to the current and ongoing crisis, in November 2023, ASHTAR Theatre put out a global call for theatres across the world to read the monologues in their communities. On Februrary 13th, The Gaza Monologues will be read in Tampa for the first time, by Tampa Bay area artists and community members. Directed by Andrea Assaf, with live music.
Following the reading, we will have refreshments, and a Teach-In on the History of Gaza by Zachary Foster, Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University, and Fellow at the Rutgers Center for Security, Race and Rights. Stay with us for a discussion after!
